Welcome to my new blog! I have finally worked out how to use WordPress and updated my entire website! The last time I updated was five years ago after which my old MacBook had crashed and I could not figure out how to restore my site. Although it’s not perfect, at least I have my site up and running as I work to improve it. So much has happened recently, suffice to say that 2018 marks a significant new beginning in my eventful life: I have finally become a full time artist and moved into my own studio space on 1st February 2018.
My new studio is in what used to be a kitchen at Settlers Cottage, a National Trust heritage property. Here in my kitchen studio I hope to cook up a feast for the eyes and food for the soul! I share the spartan but lovely cottage with three other artists, all talented, amazing women with whom I instantly became friends at first sight. Here I have truly found my tribe!
A few days after moving in, I joined them in opening the studios over two weekends as part of City of Stirling Summerset Arts Festival. We had a steady stream of people coming through to view our art. Since then I have settled down to an exciting routine, honing my skills as a portrait painter and sketchbook artist, catching up on my plein air painting and life drawing, and teaching basic watercolour and sketchbooking classes. I just love going to work these days!
