“I have always been inspired by beauty, especially beyond what merely meets the eye. My desire as an artist is to create something beautiful, pleasing to the eye and uplifting to the soul. “
In these unsettling times I have found solace and hope by choosing to focus on what is bright and beautiful. Now, more than ever, I believe we all need beauty in both art and life. “
“It is my hope that my art may be a balm for your soul, especially in these times, as it has been for mine”
This exhibition is inspired by words from an old hymn Bee first learnt as a child.
The works are presented in three broad categories in keeping with the first three lines of the lyrics-
- All things bright and beautiful – portraits of flowers & a few landscapes
- All creatures great and small – portraits of animals
- All things wise and wonderful – portraits of humans & the human figure
Two video installations provide insights into Bee’s intense daily art practice.
Video #1 shows a hundred daily portraits Bee has done as a challenge to herself to paint a portrait everyday. Musical credit: “Fremantle” by Australian composer Gemma Turvey, used with permission.

Video #2 shows daily pages of Bee’s many sketchbooks. “ Sketching daily in a sketchbook has transformed my art and my life. I believe everyone can do it and benefit, which is why I love sharing my sketchbooking skills,”
